However, in fact, the deformation of concrete in the structure is always subject to different degrees of constraint, and the lower the water-binder ratio of concrete shrinkage and temperature deformation caused by the greater the stress, thus the greater the sensitivity of cracking. Therefore, the author thinks that it is worth discussing to evaluate the durability of concrete by using free deformation specimens in laboratory and applying the test results to evaluate the service life of structure.
The author believes that the durability of concrete depends mainly on its cracking sensitivity, water consumption and reduce concrete, in guarantee under the premise of its mechanical performance meet the design requirements, can reduce the dosage of the cementing material, at the same time to reduce the drying shrinkage of concrete at the same time, its shrinkage and temperature deformation, thus improve the durability of concrete. In November 2006, the author gave a speech on "Evaluation of concrete Durability: Comparison between indoor specimens and on-site core samples" at the 5th Forum on Durability of Concrete Structures in Nanjing, and published in magazines in recent years.
